Vitamin
C Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis is an effective and painless
method for delivering solutions into the
epidermis by continuous direct current.
Developed in 1990 by a Japanese physician,
this technique aids penetration and assures
maximal transfer of the ions in the solution
used. The procedure, is designed for delivering
Vitamin C to treat melasma and other pigmented
lesions which cannot be treated well with
other surgical treatments like laser or
chemical peeling.
It is well known that
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant. It
inhibits melanin production and reverses
the effects of photodamage like fine lines,
rough and lax skin by stimulating collagen
activity and eliminating free radicals
formed within the skin. After several
sessions of the procedure, the skin feels
firmer, looks fairer and pigments are
lightened.
